day 270 - chutzpah footspa

There's even a foot-onsen by the train station where weary travellers can soak their tootsies in a very hot natural spring sprouting from the mouth of a frog...

Ehhhhh?! A shrine to crabs on the mountain-top...

Kinosaki from the lookout. (The ryokan hotel we stayed is in the white building, centre.)

I like how you make the foot spas sound like poetry for the feet. They truly are a treat to weary feet. The shrine to the crabs might have been better located at the foot of the mountain.
(couldn't resist! ).
Happpy fall, Enjoy your travels.

They are, Joanne. Nicely put. "Foot spas are poetry for the feet." I might use that!

Back to work tomorrow, but one of the things we like about Himeji is its centrality. Today we went to a live jazz gig in Shioya, and got back here in about 40 minutes. It's also easy to go to Osaka, Kyoto or Kobe for a weekend.
And we keep discovering little gems like Kinosaki and Takeno that you can visit for one or two days.
Japan still keeps surprising us!
Thanks for your comment,
rob

Feel free to use the quote!
I might take up one of your travel suggestions sometime, Takeno looks beautiful.
