day 253 - ROYGBIV - indigo / murasaki

OK, so maybe it's a bluebell trying to be indigo... The insect liked it. (You might have to double-click the image to see the insect.)
Kushiro Marsh, Hokkaido

Wildflower.
Asahidake, Hokkaido.

Wild Swamp Iris.
Kushiro Marshlands, Hokkaido.

Peaflower, Asahidake.

I've never really got the whole indigo/violet thing. They're all purple to me, so please don't send in comments about my faulty differentiation between the two. They're all just pretty purple pictures of Nippon. (Like the alliteration?)
Actually the dye indigo was very important in the Edo period. Commoners couldn't use silk, and indigo (from the leaves) was about the best natural dye around. Even today it's still a very popular colour for the yukata (summer kimono.)

Hi Rob,
Do you know the childrens book,
My Many Colored Days, by Dr. Seuss?
Its fun to break the days into colors, like you have done in your posts.
After a fine green day yesterday, its easy to relate to.
(unfortunately I notice too much black taking over in the constant paving of our neighborhood, so its good to keep reminded of the rest of the spectrum)

Hi Joanne,
I thought I was pretty much across all of Dr Seuss' books, but that one's escaped me!
Yeah, it's good to do a paradigm-shift occasionally & look at a different theme. A while back I also did shapes, reflections and shadows and light.
There's never any shortage of things to shoot here. The hardest part is keeping it down to only a few a day!
